POSITION BACKGROUND:
The Coral Restoration Consortium (CRC), formed in 2017, takes an interdisciplinary approach to supporting coral reef restoration efforts around the world and as a global community of practice. The CRC works to support coral restoration practitioners by promoting collaboration, developing shared learning experiences, and producing guides and resources for the restoration community.
Across the CRC network, Regional Groups (RGs) have been growing rapidly, reflecting increased interest, participation, and momentum. With this growth comes new opportunities: deeper peer-to-peer learning, stronger regional identity, greater inclusivity, and more effective sharing of tools and knowledge. The CRC is currently looking for two Regional Group Coordinators – one to be based in the Pacific Islands and one to be based in the Caribbean/Latin American region. Regional Coordinators will help cultivate the practice of restoration within each region, weaving together coral restoration projects by various practitioners, supporting practitioners at all stages, and ensuring that the regions’ collective
strengths are fully realized.
The aim of these new roles is to increase collaboration and cooperation within a region among practitioners who are working at various methods and levels of development in their coral restoration efforts. The Coordinators responsibilities are to assess regional needs, identify gaps, and work to bridge those gaps. Each Regional Group Coordinator will facilitate communication among practitioners, build a community of practice among coral reef stakeholders, curate knowledge exchanges, and provide practical support to a dynamic and expanding network of practitioners—ultimately strengthening the region’s impact and visibility within the global coral restoration community.
While the main priority of this role is facilitation and supporting the development of each
Regional Group, we recognize that to best do this, the chosen candidates should have first- hand experience with multiple types of coral restoration interventions.
Position is expected to travel ~10 to 20% of the year, often long distances to remote locations.

• Develop and maintain a record of practitioner groups (i.e. who is practicing and where) and identify pathways to provide updates to CRC’s Global Restoration Map online.
3. Facilitate knowledge sharing and peer learning
