🚨 Now Available: the CRC’s Guide to Coral Reef Restoration
We’re proud to share the release of the Guide to Coral Reef Restoration: Optimizing efficiency and scale for in situ nurseries and outplanting, developed by the CRC’s Field-based Propagation Working Group — a team of dedicated practitioners who worked together from 2018 to 2023.
This guide brings together the most relevant, widely used methods and lessons learned from years of hands-on experience around the globe. It’s designed to help restoration practitioners develop, implement, and scale in situ coral nursery and outplanting programs, with a strong emphasis on adaptability to local conditions, goals, and resources.
🔍 The guide covers:
Site selection
Nursery design & maintenance
Coral collection, harvesting, and outplanting
Monitoring & scaling up
Capacity building & planning for success
While not exhaustive, this guide is a critical step in advancing coral reef restoration by synthesizing knowledge from across the field — and we anticipate updating it regularly as new insights and techniques emerge.
🙌 A heartfelt thank you to the Field-based Propagation Working Group and contributors from other CRC groups. Your commitment to collaboration and knowledge sharing strengthens restoration efforts worldwide.
Download the guide today and join us in building resilient reefs for the future.
