Call for Contributions: Special collection in Revista de Biología Tropical.

If you attended Reef Futures and are part of the Latin America/Caribbean Regional Group, we have an opportunity for you! 

We are excited to invite manuscript submissions for a special collection in the Revista de Biología Tropical featuring work presented at Reef Futures 2024 by members of the Latin American and Caribbean chapter of the Coral Restoration Consortium. 

Theme: Coral Restoration in Latin America and the Caribbean: Papers Presented at Reef Futures 2024

Context and Scope

Active coral restoration, or intervention-based strategies, are gaining traction across Latin America and the Caribbean. Many current initiatives combine coral propagation with resilience-based management, aiming not only to restore reef-building coral populations but also to achieve broader ecological rehabilitation. These programs frequently integrate scientific knowledge with community engagement, policy development, and conservation planning.

This special collection will showcase advances in:

• Biological, ecological, and genetic aspects of coral restoration

• Community involvement and citizen science

• Socioeconomic dimensions and education

• Policy, governance, and conservation strategies

Given that most countries in the region share a common language, this collection aims to foster cross-border collaboration, reduce communication barriers, and promote the co-development of innovative restoration techniques.

Submission Guidelines

• Languages accepted: Spanish or English

• Manuscripts must be original and unpublished, and not under consideration elsewhere

• Bilingual formatting required: For papers in Spanish, include an English title, and bilingual figure captions and table headings

• Include a list of five potential reviewers, with full names, institutional affiliations, and email addresses
