REGIONAL GROUP
GEOGRAPHICAL FOCUS AREA: Red Sea, Gulf of Aden, Gulf of Tadjorah, Gulf of Aqaba and the Arabian Gulf
The CRC adopted the newly formed Middle East Regional Group in 2021. The Group will establish a functional regional network, which will include building up a contacts database, a projects database, and the setting up of communication platforms to exchange information and promote the group.
The regional group is led by primary chair, Dr. Sebastian Schmidt-Roach (KAUST) and by Co-Chair, Dr. Rebecca Klaus.
PRIORITIES
The Middle East is an emerging region for coral restoration. The priority of the group is to connect local efforts and to provide a platform for exchange.
WHAT WE'RE WORKING ON
The preparation of a synthesis document that captures and summarizes the ongoing efforts in the wider region linked to a simple projects database. In particular we are interested to exchange about restoration techniques applied the region.
